Kenergy has announced an important outage communications change we expect to take effect on Friday, Jan. 6th. The cooperative expects to upload a new outage map that day. According to Kenergy Spokewoman Rene Beasley Jones says the outage map looks slightly different, but will operate the same way.
In addition to a new map, the Summary of Outages by County will no longer be available on the Kenergy website. Instead, the summary will post on the right-hand rail of the new outage map.
(See attached screen shot – the outage summary is outlined in red.)
Only counties with active outages will appear on the summary.
NOTE: If you view the map on a phone app, you must click MENU in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to bring down the Summary of Outages by County. The summary automatically pops up on an iPad.
Media outlets and Emergency Management directors depend on the Summary of Outages by County. Jones says Kenergy believes there is value in having the summary attached to the outage map. This way, all of the pertinent outage information is available at a glance. Before, users had to go between the map and the outage landing page, to access the Summary of Outages by County.
