HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners had a routine agenda when it met for its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 10.
One of the items approved was a resolution authorizing a natural gas supply prepay contract with the Public Energy Authority of Kentucky Inc.
Other items included:
Accepting public improvements – concrete sidewalk — in Merrill Place Commercial Subdivision on Barret Boulevard.
Accepting an agreement with Hydro Aluminum for relocation of a gas regulator and meter.
Approving a change order on the sidewalk bid with Knight Construction and Excavating on Sand Lane, $60,279. This will allow completion of the sidewalk all the way to South Green Street.
Appointments of Tim Ferguson and Barbara Hester to Human Rights Commission.
Mayor Steve Austin also issued a proclamation honoring the W.C. Handy Festival Committee for their 28-year effort in planning and hosting the annual festival, which has grown into a significant tourism event.
City Manager Buzzy Newman gave a report about the formation of an advisory committee to select a new chief of police. Panel will include HR Director Connie Galloway, Finance Director Robert Gunter, Commissioners Brad Staton and Robert Pruitt, City Manager Buzzy Newman, HFD Chief Scott Foreman and HPD Field Officer Rodney Septer.
Newman, the city’s new representative on the Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization of which Henderson is a part, also updated the commission on the plans for widening of Wathen Road and preliminary talks about a new entrance for Audubon State Park sometime in the future.
The next regular meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. July 26 in the third-floor Assembly Room at the Henderson Municipal Center.
