As posted by DHP Promotions Director Laura Peck several awards were presented during Friday’s Annual DHP Breakfast at First United Methodist Church.

“Our “Heart of Downtown” recipient is one who wears many hats, is humble, has a great sense of humor, a successful businessman, and always willing to help.  He developed a giving heart at a young age that has carried throughout his life. It’s a heart that gives freely to their family, friend and downtown community in any way possible. This person has a heart for the small business owner, was on the start up committee for the “Think Henderson” campaign and designed the logo, printed the materials, donate his time and creativity to promote Buy Local. He works with small business because he believes in them and because he is one.

Our “Heart of Downtown” recipient is Mr. Ty Rideout owner of ABBA Promotions. Ty is also a member of several organizations in Henderson. He is a board member of Matthew 25, Riz Pah Shrine, past President of the Henderson Shrine Club, member of the Jerusalem Lodge # 9 Masonic, Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Special Olympics, Rotary, past President of the Henderson/ Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and member of the Downtown Henderson Partnership. As you can see Ty is a shining, positive example of a sincere and humble man. Greatly deserving of this award.

Bank Trust Financial won our 2013 Commercial Design Award for the addition to their bank on the corner of Second and Main to be constructed, not only as a convenience for their customers but also as an enhancement to downtown Henderson’s central business intersection.

The 2013 DHP Volunteer of the Year Award was awarded to Mrs. Marcia Baker. Marcia has been associated with Balfour Rings & Things in Downtown Henderson for over 30 years. Marcia is artistic, full of energy and always willing to help. She helped with the planting of the flower urns, took part in the planning of “White on Main” and instrumental in the process to bring new Christmas Snowflake decorations to our downtown. Marcia has also been involved with several boards in our community such as the Henderson County Library board, President of the Henderson Area Arts Alliance, Riverbend Academy Board of Directors and the DHP Board.
