Henderson Fire Department hosting Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony



The Henderson Fire Department will host a "Henderson 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony" on Saturday, Sept. 11th.
The ceremony will honor firefighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Center attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
It is being organized by the Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard Inc. and will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11th, 
at Fire Station No. 3 (343 Starlite Drive), which is home to a 9-11 Memorial with a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. 
The 45-minute ceremony will be held outside. Mask will be available, and attendees are urged to maintain social distance.
Local firefighter Nicholas Mangarella will be the guest speaker. He will talk about his experience on Sept. 11 after arriving at Ground Zero 
shortly after the North Tower fell. He spent eight days assisting with the search for victims.

The ceremony will also be live-streamed on the Henderson Fire Department Facebook page and on the Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard 
Facebook page.
The Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard also is selling 20th anniversary 9/11 shirts. Proceeds benefit the National Fallen Firefighters 
Foundation, Supporting Heroes Foundation and the Henderson Professional Firefighters Honor Guard.
