The last Thursday of each month at 12:10 p.m. and again at 4:40 p.m., members of Methodist Hospital’s Therapy Services Department are teaming up with the Henderson County Family YMCA to bring free health information to the community.

On February 28th, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Beth Taylor, will present “Healthy Feet, Activity, and Orthotics.” This 20-minute presentation will focus on foot health and regular activity. Taylor earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville in 1986 and Clinical Doctorate from University of Kentucky in 2010. She serves as Coordinator of the Vestibular and Balance/Fall Prevention programs for Methodist Hospital. Taylor is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Geriatric Section. She is also a member of the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA).

Topics scheduled for 2013 at the YMCA include healthy hands, ergonomics, aquatic therapy, core strength, fall prevention, back health, and weight training. You need not be a member of the YMCA to attend these free, monthly events.

Therapy Services is encouraging the community to prepare now for participation in the Methodist Gastroenterology 5K Run/Walk for colorectal cancer awareness month scheduled for March 16, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. This event will take participants along the beautiful Henderson riverfront and, in partnership with the Henderson Regional Hospital Foundation, will create a fund for uninsured patients to receive colonoscopies and other gastroenterology services. Details and online registration for the “Get Your Rear in Gear” event can be found at www.methodisthospital.net or by calling 270.831.7836.
