Henderson City Police need your help in identifying a juvenile responsible for injuring a 13 year this past Sunday afternoon. HPD Public Information Jennifer Richmond says Officer Collin Shelton responded to the JFK ball courts regarding an assault call. A father stated that his 13 year old son had been burned by another juvenile using a spray paint can and lighter. The 13 year old stated to Officer Shelton that he and a 14 year old friend were at the JFK ball courts with the suspect and had some paint cans in their possession. The suspect lit the vapor and pointed it at the 13 year old’s face resulting in burns. The suspect then struck the 14 year old male in the face before running off. Neither of the boys were certain of the suspect’s name.

The 13 year old victim was initially taken to Methodist Hospital but has since been transferred to the Louisville Burn Center for further treatment. Henderson County Schools resource officers were contacted and are assisting Officer Shelton in identifying the suspect, however they have yet to make an arrest. The suspect is described as a black male, around 14 years old, heavyset with broad shoulders.

Anyone with information concerning this assault is asked to contact Detective Shannon Troutman at 270-831-1295 or Crime Stoppers at 270-831-1111.
