HPD K9 Unit Places 4th in the Region at Field Trials

Between May 8-10, 2017, the Henderson Police Department K9 team competed in the US Police Canine Association regional field trials. The trials consist of certification in Narcotics Detection, Patrol Work, and Tracking. The region consists of police K9 teams from Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Officer Stone and K9 Exo earned certification in both Narcotics and Tracking. They did exceptionally well during the Patrol Work certification. During the certification, the K9 teams are judged and graded in five areas: Obedience, Article Searches, Agility, Suspect Search, and Criminal Apprehension. Officer Stone and K9 Exo placed 4th in Obedience and 3rd in Criminal Apprehension. The team earned a combined score of 665.67 out of 700 possible points. This placed them in 4th place for the entire region and was the highest score out of participating teams in the state.
