HENDERSON, Ky. – Kentucky League of Cities Deputy Executive Director J.D. Chaney will visit Henderson on Tuesday, Sept. 25, to present an award locally to Mayor Steve Austin.
Austin was named KLC Elected City Official of the Year at an awards luncheon last week during the KLC’s “Small Changes, BIG Impact” annual conference that took place in Lexington.
KLC also recognized City Employee of the Year (City of Hopkinsville Police Chief Clayton Sumner) and City Government of the Year (City of Pikeville) at the awards luncheon.
Chaney will present Austin’s award to him at 5 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Henderson Municipal Center, 222 First St., just prior to the regular 5:30 p.m. meeting of the Board of Commissioners. The public is invited to attend.
As part of his award, Austin will receive a donation made in his name to a local nonprofit organization. The mayor has designated Henderson Christian Community Outreach as the recipient of his award.
