The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Lake Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening.

* TIMING…Winds will be picking up by mid morning and continue throughout the afternoon hours.

* WINDS…Southwesterly winds from 15 to 20 MPH are expected. Higher gusts up to 25 MPH or so will also be likely.

* IMPACTS…Winds of this magnitude will cause white-capping on area lakes. Channels and eastern lake shores will be most affected by the southwesterly breezes. Operators of small watercraft should use extra caution this afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
