…Gusty winds on area lakes this afternoon and evening… .Wind will pick up from the south and southeast today and increase in speed during the afternoon. This may cause issues for boaters and small water craft on area lakes and rivers.

…LAKE WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING… The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Lake Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM CDT this evening. The Lake Wind Advisory covers all of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky.

* TIMING…1 pm CDT to 9 pm CDT.

* WINDS…Sustained 15 mph with occasional gusts of 20 to 25 mph.

* IMPACTS…Small water craft may encounter choppy waters.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
