KY Highway Snow & Ice Report for District 2 at 6:15 a.m., CST

KY Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 Snow & Ice Team has personnel reporting in for Daviess County, McLean County, and Hopkins County in response to light freezing rain moving across our northernmost counties. Personnel are reporting ice accumulation mainly on exposed metal surfaces.

Daviess County has 7 trucks out spreading salt. McLean and Hopkins crews are treating mainly bridges and overpasses.

Ambient air temperatures are reported at about 31 degrees with pavement temperatures holding at about 35 degrees thanks to substantial sunshine on Saturday.

At this time the main threat to travel is freezing on bridges and overpasses.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to urge motorists to avoid travel, if possible. Temperatures are expected to rise fairly quickly after sunrise, helping to eliminate the opportunity for ice to form.

Motorists should carefully check the temperature at their location and monitor the National Weather Service or news media outlets for updates on localized conditions.

Radar indicates freezing rain moving across Union, Webster, Henderson, McLean, Daviess, and Hancock counties with some in northern Hopkins County and northern Ohio County.
