A U.S. ARMY VETERAN, HE WAS A TRUCK DRIVER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE TEAMSTERS LOCAL #135.

AFTER RETIREMENT, HE WORKED AS A TRANSPORTER WITH LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIPS. A KENTUCKY COLONEL, HE WAS A MEMBER OF ZION BAPTIST CHURCH.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SON, ROBERT L. BENNETT; BY A BROTHER, PAUL BENNETT AND BY A SISTER, MARY KRIES.
