VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a change in the traffic pattern on the Fix for 41 bridge rehab project.

Beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 14, contractors will begin paving on the southbound Ohio River Crossing between Evansville and Henderson, Kentucky. During the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the bridge will be completely closed for this operation. Outside of those hours, motorists will see normal traffic patterns resume, but paving may still be taking place under normal traffic conditions. The change in the traffic pattern is expected to last three to four days depending upon weather conditions. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.

Phase 2 Commences

Motorists will begin to see work on Phase 2 of the Fix for 41 project begin within the coming week. A temporary bridge has been installed and motorists will see traffic on the northbound side shift to the southbound lanes. This work will continue into next spring as the bridges are rehabilitated. Drivers can expect to see some demolition work begin this year with the work to be completed in the spring and summer months of 2018. INDOT will maintain two lanes of traffic in either direction throughout the life of the project.

During this time, access to Waterworks Road and Shawnee Drive have been extremely limited. Motorists will need to use the detour using Weinbach Avenue and Riverside Drive for access.
