A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has temporarily reopened a section of KY 268 in HENDERSON County that has been closed since Monday.

This closure along KY 268 at milepoint 1.8 was to allow two culverts to be replaced in the Pond Bayou area northwest of the Geneva community. The contractor successfully replaced one of the culverts this week, but due to rain the forecast the crew has chosen to temporarily reopen the roadway and reschedule work at the second site for next week.

The contractor plans to be back at the site around the middle of next week to replace the second culvert. We will attempt to provide timely notice when KY 268 is to be closed to allow the work to resume.

Motorists who travel this section of KY 268 should be aware that the first culvert has been covered with gravel. Uneven pavement signs are in place along the roadway. Motorists should use appropriate caution. Once the second culvert is replaced next week, the area will be allowed to settle for a time before being paved to provide a smoother ride.

Rogers Group, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $850,000 group project that includes work at several locations.
