The 300 block of First Street is back open after being closed to through traffic while city fire fighters battled an
early morning blaze. The initial call came in around 6 AM according to officials. Fire crews were able to tap out the
flames soon after arrival and stayed on the scene for a couple of hours putting out hotspots. The fire was contained
to the two story structure located behind the former Wolf’s restaurant and next to the Remax realty office. No one was inside
the building when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. A cat that lives in a portion of
the building reportedly escaped uninjured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
