Annually, Partnership of Women (POW!) is honored to award $21,000 back into Henderson non-profits to help them meet the goals of their organizations. POW! members gathered together and casted their vote on Thursday evening after hearing presentations from the three semi-finalists and unveiled the winner.
Habitat for Humanity was awarded the top award of $15,000 on Thursday evening to help grow their voucher program that supplies beds and other household items to low-income families in Henderson County. Habitat provides vouchers to seven local agencies who serve families that could benefit from the program. Britney Smith, Executive Director and Matt Reynolds, Operations Manager were present to speak and accept the award on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. The Gathering Place – Henderson Senior Center and Spottsville Volunteer Department were awarded $3,000 each to support their local needs.
POW! Grants have awarded $133,000 back into the community since 2012. POW! raises money through individual and group memberships and supporting operational sponsorships. Annually, about half the money raised is awarded to local non-profits in that grant year; the other half is invested in an endowment fund. This endowment will allow POW! to continue to give in perpetuity, increasing its future impact.
