SANDRA R. SMITH              71       OF HENDERSON

DIED SUNDAY, JANUARY 5, 2020 AT THE LUCY SMITH KING CARE CENTER.  SHE WAS A TEACHER, SPECIALIZING IN ADULT EDUCATION.  SHE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF A BOOK CLUB.  SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND OF 50 YEARS, BRUCE L. SMITH, WHO DIED IN 2019.

1 DAUGHTER           ELLEN R. SMITH OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN

1 SON            MARK E. SMITH OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY

HER MOTHER          PEGGY REDDEN OF BOWLING GREEN

DOUGLAS W. NEWMAN               71       OF HENDERSON

DIED THURSDAY, JANUARY 2, 2020, AT HIS HOME.  HE SERVED AS A MEDIC IN THE U.S. AIR FORCE FOR FOUR YEARS DURING THE VIETNAM WAR.  HE THEN WORKED AS A NURSE FOR 37 YEARS, SERVING AT WELBORN BAPTIST HOSPITAL, THE MULBERRY CENTER, DEACONESS HOSPITAL; ST. MARY’S HOSPITAL, AND THEN AT BRENTWOOD MEADOWS IN NEWBURGH.  AFTER HE RETIRED, HE WORKED 8 YEARS AS A SECURITY GUARD AT ELLIS PARK.  HE WAS A KENTUCKY COLONEL.

HIS WIFE OF 26 YEARS      RUTH ANN NEWMAN

1 DAUGHTER           TAMI PERKINS OF SANTA FE, TEXAS

2 SONS          CHAD SMITH AND MATTHEW SMITH, BOTH OF HENDERSON

5 GRANDCHILDREN AND 1 GREAT GRANDSON

 

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE 11 AM TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2020, AT BENTON GLUNT FUNERAL HOME, A LIFE CELEBRATION HOME

BURIAL WILL BE IN FAIRMONT CEMETERY WITH MILITARY RITES PERFORMED BY THE AMERICAN LEGION WORSHAM POST NO. 40

FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO DOUG’S LIFE CELEBRATION FROM 2 TO 7 PM TODAY AND FROM 10 AM TO SERVICE TIME TOMORROW AT THE FUNERAL HOME
