HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners finalized a change to the downtown parking ordinance at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Free parking is available in numbered spaces for a maximum of three hours at a time. Per the ordinance, someone who parks downtown regularly can be in a numbered space for seven three-hour segments, or 21 hours total, in a Monday-Friday work week before being in violation of the “scatter” portion of the ordinance.
The commission had approved a three-month trial period of three-hour parking and five “scatter” incidents late last year, but decided to expand the latter to seven for the new ordinance.
In other business, the commission:
Passed a first reading that amends the Fiscal Year 2020 budget and appropriations ordinance in the amount of $287,000.
Passed a first reading of an ordinance that changes how Henderson Water Utility expresses water consumption on its billing statements from hundred cubic feet (CCF) to gallons. This is in preparation for a phased-in upgrade of water meters, and was approved in February by the Water and Sewer Commission.
Passed a resolution authorizing Henderson Fire Department to apply for a FEMA grant for outdated breathing apparatus.
Passed a resolution for acquiring legal services in planning for a Development Area Tax Increment Finance District (TIF.)
Under bids and contracts, made awards for the mowing of city property, an upgrade on the 911 communications system and purchase of three police vehicles.
Under the consent agenda, approved resolutions accepting the Downtown Master Plan as an appendix to the Vision Plan, authorizing the Municipal Road Aid Cooperative Program agreement and authorizing a grant by Henderson Police Department to Homeland Security, and a municipal order authorizing the lease for Dixon Hall.
Approved a request from Chris Winstead of the Henderson City-County Ambulance Service to seek bids for a new ambulance.
Reappointed Mac Arnold to the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
The next meeting is a special-called meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the third-floor Assembly Room. A public hearing for a grant application that would help advance a proposed sports complex project is set at 3:45 p.m., just prior to the special-called meeting.
