Henderson Municipal Center being closed to public until further notice
HENDERSON, Ky. — In a move to take precautions regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Henderson Municipal Center at 222 First St. is being closed to the public until further notice effective Tuesday, March 17, City Manager Buzzy Newman announced Monday.
Signs will be posted at entrances advising citizens of the closure.
While the utility customer service area inside the building will be closed to the public, customers may pay utility bills using the two drive-thru lanes on the east side of the building. Newman said staff will focus on expediting service at the drive-thrus.
Payments may also be dropped off at the City of Henderson utility drop box in the parking lot of The Depot building at 101 N. Water St. Customers should take care to use the city drop box and not the Henderson County Public Library book drop box located nearby.
As noted on signs at the Henderson Municipal Center entrances, people with municipal-related emergencies should call 270-831-1200.
Those needing a utility hookup should call 270-831-4996.
As of mid-day Monday, a scheduled called session of the Henderson Board of Commissioners at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, was expected to take place as planned. However, for public health reasons, citizens are discouraged from attending. The meeting will be televised on Spectrum Channel 200 as usual. It will also be live-streamed at the City website at www.CityofHendersonKy.org.
The public will be notified when these emergency public health precautions are no longer in place.
