IN CELEBRATION OF HENDERSON’S 42420 DAY THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF HENDERSON GRANTS $35,000 FROM UNRESTRICTED COMMUNITY FUND

April 24, 2020 (Henderson, Ky) – Officials from The Community Foundation of Henderson County (CFH) announced their grant recipients for 2020 in celebration of Henderson’s 42420 Day.

The grant awards were given from the Unrestricted Community Fund through CFH and represented at least one or more of the four pillars of the Community Foundation of Henderson – EDUCATING, CARING, INSPIRING, and IMPROVING.

There were twenty requests and seven grants awarded to aid ten local non-profits.

“Absolutely every request for funds was a worthy cause and project which reveals just how great our non-profits are in serving our community, so it was difficult and painful not to fund every request,” said Mark B Weaver President of CFH.

The General Request recipients and their amounts are as follows:

Riverview School received $1,131

Children’s Advocacy Center received $1,500

Downtown Henderson Partnership received $5,000

Kids Plus (a collaboration of 4 non-profits: B&G Club, AKZ, Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding and Brain Injury Adventure Camp) received $10,369

Audubon Area RSVP received $500

A new addition to this year’s CFH’s grant awards was a new category – funding for a grant writer. Two grant writer awards were given:

Henderson Area Arts Alliance received $5,000

Christian Community Outreach received $1,500

“The board felt that it would be an excellent way to leverage CFH funding for the non-profit’s greater benefit,” stated Weaver. “The gift for Henderson Area Arts Alliance (HAAA) was an ideal grant writer’s award given the type of project and magnitude of the funds HAAA will need to raise for their upcoming capital campaign and renovation of a collaborative arts facility downtown.”

Christian Community Outreach received $10,000 in March as an unrestricted gift to help respond to area community needs in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal presentation this year, but non-profits will receive their checks by mail next week.

“Not only does this celebrate the good work of area non-profits, but this announcement further celebrates those giving to the endowed Unrestricted Community Fund through CFH, enabling increased contributions and further impact on the local community and non-profits in perpetuity,” added Weaver.
