HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners finalized an ordinance adopting a schedule of electric rates and services at its meeting on Tuesday, April 28.
For the average user, the utility bill should show a $1 reduction under the new schedule. The schedule had been approved and proposed by the Henderson Utility Commission.
The commission was meeting on its regular day but was designated a special-called meeting because it was a teleconference mandated by the continuing COVID-19 virus crisis. It also took place at a different time.
In other business, the commission:
–Authorized the submission of a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application. The grant is being sought to assist with property acquisition for a new sports complex.
–Replaced an old deed of easement between the Henderson Water & Sewer Commission and First Christian Church with a new one.
–Awarded a bid for improvements in the restrooms at the Gathering Place senior citizens center to Q&S Enterprises LLC of Sebree.
On the recommendation of City Manager Buzzy Newman, the commission did not award a bid that was presented for the purchase of a new ambulance for the City-County ambulance service. He advised the board that the other capital purchases have been put on hold while the city navigates financial issues created by COVID-19.
There will be no meeting on May 12. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, May 19, in the third-floor Assembly Room. It is a work session on the 2021 Fiscal Year Budget. A very brief special-called meeting could take place just prior to the work session.
