Trooper Located a Large Bag of Marijuana, Codeine, Stolen Firearm and Cash
HARTFORD, Ky. (May 01, 2020)—A Kentucky State Police trooper patrolling I-165 (a.k.a. William Natcher Parkway) about ten-miles north of Hartford, observed a Dodge Avenger traveling northbound at 90 miles-per-hour in a 70 miles-per-hour zone. The trooper conducted a traffic stop around 7p.m. and identified the driver as Tyrus Action, 21 of Owensboro. The trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search was conducted and troopers located roughly three (3) pounds of marijuana and three (3) – four (4) ounce bottles of codeine.
The passenger, a 17-year-old juvenile from Ohio County, possessed a stolen handgun (stolen from Daviess County), large amount of cash and digital scales. The juvenile was arrested and released to the Ohio County Court Designated Worker.
Action was arrested and charged with:
1) Trafficking in Marijuana 1st Offense (Enhancement)
2) Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Offense – Codeine
3) Receiving Stolen Property – Firearm
4) Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
5) Unlawfully Permit Minor to Possess Handgun
6) Possession of Controlled Substance – 2nd Degree – Codeine
7) Unlawful Transaction with a Minor – 2nd Degree
8) Speeding
9) Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 1st Offence
He was transported and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford.
