HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson will soon have a new space in Atkinson Park available for rentals.
The board passed a first reading of an ordinance and a resolution setting fees and rates for Atkinson Clubhouse, formerly the clubhouse at Municipal Golf Course, at a special-called meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
The fees will be the same as rates to rent the Denton Shelter, also in Atkinson Park.
It was the regular meeting day for the board, but it was designated as a special-called meeting based on its start time and its format as a video teleconference.
The Henderson Municipal Center is still closed to public traffic as it has been since the state of emergency was instated in mid-March by the COVID-19 outbreak.
In other business, the commission:
–Approved agreements with the Henderson City-County Airport Board ($218,000), Downtown Henderson Partnership ($46,000), Henderson Economic Development ($60,000), Humane Society of Henderson County Inc. for animal control and shelter services ($121,000), Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children (via Community Development Block Grant), Henderson-Henderson County Planning Commission and Geographic Information System ($363,000) and Henderson City-County Human Rights Commission ($35,000).
–Declared surplus property at 1415 Helm St. and 1438 Helm St., which will be sold by sealed bids.
–Authorized the purchase of a sanitation truck and cart tipper at a cost of $149,717.
–Presented a 20-year service award to Rodney Oliver, cemetery equipment operator.
–Heard an ordinance review regarding “animal cafes” and voted to send a proposal for such entities to the Henderson City-County Planning Commission for their consideration as conditional use in several zones.
–Made board appointments of Elizabeth Ahmadi and Timothy Miller to the Henderson City-County Human Rights Commission, Kevin Herron to the Tax Assessment Appeals Board and Ryan Nunn to the Ethics Board.
