A 1972 GRADUATE OF UNION COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL, HE EARNED HIS BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF EVANSVILLE AND HIS MASTER’S DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN. HE WAS A COAL MINER FOR ISLAND CREEK COAL COMPANY; WORKED AT ACCURIDE AND MOST RECENTLY, WAS VICE PRESIDENT OF AIRGAS. HE SERVED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE UNION COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR 18 YEARS.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF GREATER NORRIS CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH WHERE SHE SERVED ON THE MOTHER’S BOARD, USHER BOARD, YOUNG MATRONS AUXILLARY, WAS A MEMBER OF THE WOMEN’S ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS AND HELPED WITH VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. SHE RETIRED FROM HENDERSON COUNTY SCHOOLS IN 1990 AS A TEACHER’S AID. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, GARFIELD TERRY WHO DIED IN 1983 AND BY A BROTHER, HENRY A. SAUNDERS, II IN 1985.
