HENDERSON, Ky. The Henderson City Commission has approved on first reading an amendment to the zoning ordinance on
manufactured homes and electronic signs. The action came at a special-called meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
The Commission met on its regular day but at an earlier time and by way of Zoom with limited public attendance permitted which
made it a special called meeting.
In other action the city government leaders passed first reading of an ordinance amending the language in the ordinance
concerning repairs, damage, theft of natural gas service and tampering with meters.
They also finalized an ordinance amending language in the Code of Ordinances about repairs, damage, theft of potable water
service and tampering with meters or other devices. HWU has launched a project to install new smart water meters.
Gave final approval to the closure of an unimproved portion of Lincoln Avenue public right-of-way between Kentucky 2084 N.
and Kentucky 351 to allow for the consolidation of property. The closure was previously approved by the Henderson City-County
Planning Commission.
The Commission heard a report from City Attorney Dawn S. Kelsey about a proposed annexation of Bent Creek Subdivision and
Bent Creek Estates and approved sending the proposal to the Nov. 3rd Henderson City-County Planning Commission meeting for
a public hearing.
Downtown Henderson Project Executive Director Lindsay Locasto and Vision Plan Chair/Henderson Economic Development Executive
Director Missy Vanderpool updated the Commission on recent the Vision Plan projects. Locasto talked about two downtown
lighting projects that have been completed and made a report about new Christmas décor. Vanderpool provided an update from
the last Vision Group meeting about plans to study the feasibility of a Municipal Dock.
Henderson Mayor Steve Austin presented a 20-year service award pin to Larry Daniels of Henderson Municipal Gas.
Kentucky League of Cities representative Howard Rosewell attended the meeting to present training certificate awards to
Mayor Steve Austin (Master of City Governance), and City Manager Buzzy Newman, Commissioner Brad Staton and
Community Relations Manager/PIO Donna B. Stinnett (Achievement in City Governance).
TheCommission is set to meet again on Tuesday, Nov. 10th.
