THE REVEREND DR. J. DOUGLAS BLAIR, III      78       OF HENDERSON

DIED MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2020.  AFTER HE RECEIVED HIS BS DEGREE FROM PEABODY/VANDERBILT COLLEGE, HE ENTERED COLUMBIA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY.  HE WAS ORDAINED A MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL BY THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH USA IN 1967 AFTER COMPLETING HIS MASTER OF DIVINITY.  HE COMPLETED HIS DOCTOR OF MINISTRY DEGREE FROM VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY AND WHILE PASTORING THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF HENDERSON, HE RECEIVED HIS MASTER’S IN COUNSELING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF EVANSVILLE.  HE ALSO SERVED CHURCHES IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, AND SARASOTA, FLORIDA.  HE WAS THE CURRENT PASTOR AT CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF OWENSBORO.  FOR 15 YEARS, HE STRIVED TO BRING THE WORD OF GOD AND A LITTLE HUMOR TO THE LIVES OF WSON LISTENERS WITH HIS “MOMENTS FOR MEDITATION.”  HE ALSO SERVED ON THE SALVATION ARMY BOARD AND HELPED ORGANIZE VOLUNTEERS FOR THE KETTLE DRIVE. 

 

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:

HIS WIFE OF 55 YEARS      ANN BLAIR

HIS DAUGHTER       ALLISON BLAIR

HIS SON        JIMMY BLAIR

1 BROTHER              BILL BLAIR

1 GRANDDAUGHTER, NIECES AND NEPHEWS

 

A PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY

RUDY ROWLAND FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS

EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY MAY TAKE THE FORM OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WARM CENTER AT 56 NORTH McKINLEY STREET, HENDERSON OR TO YOUR FAVORITE CHARITY

SHIRLEY J. THOMAS RANSOM             OF HENDERSON

DIED MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2020 ON HER 80TH BIRTHDAY AT HER HOME.  SHE HAD WORKED IN CIRCULATION AT THE NEWSPAPER AND WAS A MEMBER OF ZION BAPTIST CHURCH FOR 58 YEARS.  SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SISTER, WANDA HICKS AND BY A GREAT GRANDSON, EDISON JAMES FRIELDS.

 

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:

HER HUSBAND OF 64 YEARS       FRANK RANSOM

4 CHILDREN             LISA LIGON OF REED

                            KIM HOWARD, DARLA FRIELDS AND TOMMY RANSOM, ALL OF HENDERSON

2 SISTERS      BETTY TURNER OF MORGANFIELD AND

                          PAT WILLIAMS OF LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS

10 GRANDCHILDREN, 20 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, 1 GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD, NIECES AND NEPHEWS

 

PRIVATE SERVICES WILL BE HELD

BROTHER MIKE SPIVEY WILL OFFICIATE

A CHURCH SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE

TOMBLINSON FUNERAL HOME HENDERSON CHAPEL IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS
