HENDERSON, KY, December 1, 2020- An executive order that provides a 12-month alcoholic beverage fee waiver for restaurants,
bars and related licenses has been signed by City of Henderson Mayor Steve Austin.
The local waiver applies to specific City of Henderson licensees that match state licenses that will also receive a
12-month renewal fee waiver from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control. Licensees who paid fees in 2020 will not pay in 2021.
The state action was approved in an executive order signed by Gov. Andy Beshear.
"The City of Henderson recognizes the local impact on these businesses created by state and federal recommendations
for social distancing, periodic closures of bars and restaurants and self-quarantining, all in an effort to prevent
the spread of this devastating virus and curb the pandemic," Mayor Austin said.
He added that it is hoped the fee waiver will help prevent "any additional financial strain on these businesses"
during these difficult times.
"It is a way the city can show support for those who have been asked to do a lot in 2020," Austin added.
The waiver program will run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021, and will be available for renewals to current licensees
that hold specific licenses listed on the state ABC waiver and that do not have delinquent city accounts.
Some of the local licensees that qualify include: restaurants, bars, hotel restaurants/bars, private clubs,
bed and breakfasts, small farm wineries, breweries, microbreweries, caterers, racetracks, state parks,
special Sunday retail drink license, supplemental bar license, and others.
