Christmas has come early for more than 20 non-profit organizations in Henderson. The Henderson Lions Club has handed out about $25,000 in grants to a variety of non-profit groups. Representatives of a number of the organizations joined the Lions for their Zoom meeting this week to thank the club and share how their groups will use the funds to help the community.

Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Clubs: $500
Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children: $1,000
Habitat of Henderson: $1,000
Henderson Area Arts Alliance: $2,000
Henderson Diabetes Coalition: $3,500
Henderson Leadership initiative: $1,000
Henderson Chamber Education Foundation: $1,000
Henderson City/County Rescue Squad: $1,000
Henderson recreation Association: $250
Holy of Name Jesus: $500
Holy Name PTO: $500
Humane Society: $1,000
Ohio Valley Art League: $500
Salvation Army: $3,000
South Middle School: $500
Smith Mills Volunteer Fire Station: $1,000
Volunteer and Information Center: $1,000
W.C. Handy Blues Festival: $2,000
The Henderson Lions have also provided $35,000 to the HERF Fund and the Salvation Army for Pandemic relief this year, along with $7,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors and has earmarked more than $5,000 for eye care and eye screening in 2020-2021. Instead of its annual auction, the club will be holding a half-pot raffle early in 2021 to raise funds for the community. The auction was canceled due to the pandemic.
