CHARLES GALE HANCOCK    77   OF GILBERTSVILLE, FORMERLY OF THE SEBREE/ONTON AREA

DIED FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2020 AT LOURDES HOSPITAL IN PADUCAH.  HE WORKED 23 YEARS AT ALCOA AND THEN WENT INTO POLICE WORK FOR 10 YEARS AS A DEPUTY SHERIFF OF WEBSTER COUNTY AND THEN CHIEF OF POLICE OF SEBREE.  HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE MOOSE LODGE AND THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION SANTA CLAUSE POST 242.

 

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:

HIS LOVING WIFE OF 29 YEARS              CHERRY HANCOCK

4 SONS          CHUCK HANCOCK, RICK HANCOCK, STAN HANCOCK AND DOUG HANCOCK

1 DAUGHTER           KRISTY EPPERSON

MARY ANN FITZGERALD McCLURE BLACKWELL        89       OF HENDERSON

DIED SATURDAY AT THE LUCY SMITH KING CARE CENTER.  SHE WAS A 1949 GRADUATE OF BARRET MANUAL TRAINING HIGH SCHOOL AND GRADUATED FROM WESLEYAN CONSERVATORY IN MACON, GEORGIA, WITH A PIANO PERFORMANCE DEGREE.  SHE TAUGHT PIANO TO HUNDREDS IN OUR COMMUNITY.  SHE WAS A MEMBER OF FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.  SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, CHARLES WILLIAM McCLURE, WHO DIED IN 1985; HER SECOND HUSBAND, CHAPMAN T. BLACKWELL, III IN 2015 AND BY A STEP GRANDSON, CT BLACKWELL, V, WHO DIED IN 2015.

DIED FRIDAY.   HE WAS A 23-YEAR U.S. AIR FORCE VETERAN HAVING ACHIEVED THE RANK OF TECHNICAL SERGEANT AND RETIRED FROM THE HENDERSON AMBULANCE SERVICE AND HENDERSON MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE.  HE WAS A MEMBER OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH.  HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE OF 42 YEARS, ZORA MAE CHURCH WHO DIED IN 2004 AND BY 2 BROTHERS, THOMAS CHURCH AND STEVE CHURCH.

DOUGLAS RAY LYNN          85       OF SEBREE

DIED THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1010 AT DEACONESS MIDTOWN HOSPITAL IN EVANSVILLE.  A 1953 GRADUATE OF CHARLESTON HIGH SCHOOL, HE WORKED AT STANDARD OIL FILLING STATION AND LATER IN THE COAL MINES.  HE SERVED IN THE U.S. ARMY IN GERMANY FROM 1957 TO 1959.  HE WAS SERVED AS DEACON, TREASURER AND TRUSTEE AT LIVERMORE BAPTIST CHURCH BEFORE MOVING TO SEBREE.  HE RETIRED FROM KENTUCKY UTILITIES AFTER 38 YEARS OF SERVICE.  HE WAS A MEMBER OF SEBREE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH FOR OVER 42 YEARS, WHERE HE SERVED AS DEACON, TRUSTEE, CHURCH VAN DRIVER AND VOLUNTEER.  HE ALSO VOLUNTEERED WITH MANY ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING, GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL, SEBREE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, MACEDONIAN BUILDERS AND DISASTER RELIEF.  HE FOUNDED THE SEBREE FIRECRACKER RUN IN 1980 AND CONTINUED TO ORGANIZE IT WITH HIS FAMILY FOR 40 YEARS.  HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER, CARVEL LYNN AND A STEPSISTER, LISA STILES WALLACE.

HIS WIFE OF 63 YEARS      MARTHA CLAYTON LYNN

DIED WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2020 AT ST. VINCENT HOSPITAL IN EVANSVILLE.  SHE WAS A PAYROLL AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER FOR LITTLE KENTUCKY SMOKEHOUSE, JIM DAVID MEATS AND MID-SOUTH SALES IN UNION COUNTY.  SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SISTER, MARY LOUISE AYDELOTTE.
