HART making route adjustments

Some routes being condensed for the time being

HENDERSON, Ky. - Henderson Area Rapid Transit will make some modifications in its routes starting Tuesday, Jan. 5, because of some impacts on personnel caused by illness.

Currently, at least four available drivers are quarantined because of COVID-19, which leaves the transit system short on personnel to cover existing fixed routes and operate Paratransit vehicles.

On Monday, the bus system was operating on "on-demand" trips only that were limited to destinations such as medical offices, groceries and pharmacies.

Starting Tuesday and for an unspecified temporary timeframe, the "Shopper Shuttle" route won't be labeled as such and that route will be served by the East End/Eastgate bus in tandem with the North route.

Riders may need to allow extra time for the buses to run the routes.

Also, the Paratransit vehicles will continue to be limited to trips for groceries and pharmacy/medical appointments.

Because ridership has remained low during these months of pandemic, the HART system is currently operating starting at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The last routes leave the transfer point at 4:30 p.m. The 6 a.m. Weaverton and Eastgate routes are currently suspended.

This new schedule is subject to change. HART thanks riders for their flexibility and asks riders to take every measure to maintain "social distancing."
