HENDERSON LIONS CLUB HOLDS FIRST HALF-POT DRAWING!!!

On February 28th, Henderson Lion Club members held a drawing for the club’s first-ever Lions 50-50 Raffle live on FaceBook. Tickets were sold online beginning February 1st and the pot had grown to $21,800 at the time of the drawing. The winner is a Henderson resident who walked away with $10,900 pre-tax dollars!

The Lions 50-50 Raffle was a new event for the club this year, an effort to replace some of the money the club lost when it had to cancel its 2020 Lions Arts and Crafts Festival in Audubon State Park and  2021 Lions Television and Online Auction, the club’s two major fundraisers, because of Covid-19 restrictions.  The club plans to hold raffles in the future.

In addition to the money the club will keep as its part of the raffle, approximately $7800 was raised through cash donations given to the Lions before and during the raffle. The total amount raised by the club is approximately $15,000, money that will stay in the community to be used for grants for local non-profit organizations, scholarships for local high school seniors, and eyeglasses and eye surgeries for those who cannot afford them. In 2020-2021, Henderson Lions donated nearly $70,000 to the community in grants, scholarships, eye care, and Covid-19 relief.
