HART Bus System to Offer Free Transportation to Vaccine Clinic


 

On-Demand service will be available to anyone who qualifies for a vaccine

 

HENDERSON, Ky. -The City of Henderson will support the Community Vaccination Center (CVC) announced late last week for Henderson County by the White House and Gov. Andy Beshear by providing transportation on Henderson Area Rapid Transit (HART) to residents of the city.

 

Gov. Beshear on Friday announced that FEMA is partnering with the Commonwealth of Kentucky to open Community Vaccination Centers in two Kentucky counties: Henderson and Laurel.

 

The Henderson County Cooperative Extension site, located at 3341 Kentucky 351 (Zion Road) in Henderson, will open this Thursday, April 29. Personnel from the Department of Defense will support the administration of vaccines at this location.

 

HART will offer pickup and drop-off within the city of Henderson at no charge.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday starting Thursday, April 29, and continuing 6 to 8 weeks.

 

The local site will be providing vaccine services to 12 Western Kentucky counties.

 

These sites, in addition to the mobile vaccine services attached to the CVC locations being provided by the commonwealth, will be capable of delivering up to 7,000 doses of vaccine per week.

 

Audubon Area Community Services/ GRITS Transportation program is also making transportation to COVID-19 vaccinations available free of charge. Passengers must schedule appointments 24 hours in advance and they must have a prescheduled appointment for the vaccine. Trips will be provided within the passenger’s home County or an adjoining County. Passengers must have the address of the pick-up point and destination prior to scheduling transport.
