HENDERSON, KY, April 26, 2021- The Henderson Fire Department is collaborating with the American Red Cross on a project to
get more smoke alarms into homes.
The program, called Sound The Alarm, is set for this Saturday, May 1, and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
at Eastgate Shopping Center on Outer Second Street.
At the event, HFD staff will be present to go over a Home Fire Safety Checklist with interested citizens and to compile
a list of names/residences that are in need of smoke alarms.
On a later date, the HFD will visit homes and install the smoke alarms.
Sound The Alarm is a national program of the American Red Cross that strives to educate citizens in at-risk communities
about home fire safety, help citizens create their escape plan in the event of fire and partner with fire departments to
install smoke alarms.
