HPD Investigating Back-to-Back Shootings / Middle School Soccer Match Canceled


At approximately 5:30 pm Tuesday HPD responded to the area around Pringle and Kleymeyer Streets for a call of shots fired.

According to Sgt. Kenneth Corman, while responding and investigating the call an officer near the scene heard more shots fired from the area of Fernwood

Cemetary about 8 minutes later.

A short time later HPD officers located and detained one male subject believed to be involved in the incident.  A few minutes later at 5:44 pm, a new call of shots

fired came out in the 900 blocks of Clay St. Officers responded and collected evidence from that scene.  Due to the nature of the calls, a soccer game at South

Middle School was called off.  Students and parents were put on temporary lockdown then released under supervision from school staff.

HPD is thanking

the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police Post-16 for their assistance in investigating and locating the crime scenes.

More information will be released at a later time once more information is available.

No injures were reported.
