Western Kentucky Cities Launching Craft Beer Trail

Oct. 12, 2021 (HENDERSON, Ky.) – Nine convention and visitor bureaus in cities in the western part of the commonwealth are partnering with their craft breweries to launch a craft beer trail called the West Kentucky Brewery Hop on Tuesday, Oct. 12.  The hop has 13 craft breweries between the cities of Paducah, Murray, Benton, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Beaver Dam and Owensboro.

“Our convention and visitor bureaus across Kentucky do a wonderful job working together to promote tourism, and the new craft beer trail in western Kentucky is a prime example of that.  We’re excited about the new trail and what it means for the local economies as well as the commonwealth. Our tourism industry has been greatly impacted by the pandemic, and its innovative efforts such as this that will help us move forward toward recovery,” said Mike Mangeot, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Tourism.

“This collaboration comes at a perfect time—our region has exploded in recent years with a spirit of entrepreneurship in the craft beer industry,” said Abby Dixon, executive director of the Henderson Tourist Commission. “Each brewery along the trail showcases its own personality and craftsmanship, and we’re thrilled to have such a solid tourism product to promote visitation to Henderson and to our side of the Commonwealth as a whole.”

Anyone who is 21 or older can participate in The West Kentucky Brewery Hop by first obtaining a passport from participating craft breweries on the trail.  Once you have your passport, you are encouraged to try a beer at each of the breweries on the trail.  After purchasing a local beer, the brewery will stamp your passport.  Following the completion of the trail or getting a stamp from at least seven breweries, you can mail your passport to the Henderson Convention and Visitors Bureau to claim your prize.  Once the Henderson CVB verifies your passport, you’ll be mailed back your passport and a West Kentucky Brewery Hop pint glass for your job well done!

“We are excited about this new opportunity to highlight all of the amazing beers being brewed in Western Kentucky.  Craft beer has exploded throughout the Commonwealth over the past decade and this is another chance to sip and sample some of the best they have to offer,” said Derek Selznick, Executive Director, Kentucky Guild of Brewers.

The western Kentucky breweries on the Brewery Hop include Mile Wide Beer Company, The Brew Bridge and Goodwood Brewing & Spirits in Owensboro, Henderson Brewing Company, Uncrafted Territory Brewing Company in Beaver Dam, Paducah Beer Works, Dry Ground Brewing Company in Paducah, Hop Hound Brew Pub in Murray, The Dam Brewhaus in Benton, Hopkinsville Brewing Company, Yancey’s Gastropub & Brewery in Glasgow, Blue Holler Brew Supplies and Gasper Brewing Company in Bowling Green.

There is no timeline for when you have to complete your passport.  You are encouraged to not only try each brewery but check out the other entertainment options each city has selected to highlight in the passport.  For more information, visit westkybreweryhop.com.
