Henderson City Police Make Arrest in Connection with Recent Shooting


On Monday, Nov. 29th at 1:11 am officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to the intersection of Powell Street and South Adams in reference to shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers found numerous shell casings. Officers located a passenger car a short distance away with three occupants that had been hit by the gunfire. Officers were advised a two-year-old female child that was riding in the car in a car seat had been wounded. The child was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was then life-flighted to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis with life-threatening injuries. On Friday, Dec. 3rd Darren W. Miller of Powell Street was arrested at the Henderson Police Department for Assault 1st Degree and two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. The charges stem from Miller allegedly firing into the vehicle striking the child and endangering the other two occupants of the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing according to investigating officer, Detective John Nevels.
Keep in mind those charged with a crime are considered innocent until and unless found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a court of law.
