Henderson County Records First Traffic Fatality of 2022


The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and other first responders worked a two-vehicle fatality traffic crash at the intersection of U.S. 60 East

and KY 1078 North.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. Monday.

Deputies say 61-year old Loretta Duncan was driving a van southbound on highway 1078 and was attempting to make a left turn onto U.S. 60.

At the same time, William Adams was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck and was traveling westbound on U.S. 60.

Authorities say the Duncan vehicle pulled into the path of Adams and the two collided in the intersection.

Loretta Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henderson County Coroner’s office.

A passenger in the Duncan vehicle, 68-year old Ernest Duncan was taken to a Deaconess Midtown hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

His condition is not known. Adams was not hurt in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Department says Loretta Duncan and Adams were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

It’s unknown if Ernest Duncan was wearing his seatbelt.
