Henderson County Public Library Seeks Input from the Community for Next Strategic Plan

Henderson, Ky (January 21, 2022)—The Henderson County Public Library is inviting everyone who lives or works in Henderson County to take part in shaping the library’s vision and goals for the next five years.  Library Director Shannon Sandefur notes that the last strategic plan, which was put in place in 2015, resulted in the recently completed expansion and renovation project.

“Strategic planning is essential for us to continue to add value to Henderson County.  It allows us to set goals and provides the foundation to create a road map to reach them. We want to know the problems in our community where the public is relying on us to be part of the solution. Community input on what to provide in our day-to-day operations gives us insight into what Henderson County needs from us most.”

The library will be hosting a series of Community Visioning Sessions over the next several weeks to hear from as many people as possible. “We need to hear from many people, even those who do not currently use the library, to build the best program. We learn as much from the person who tells us they do not think the library is for them as we do from the person who is at the library five times a week. The people who do not use the library show us our blind spots and help us create programs we would not have thought of otherwise.”

The first Community Visioning Session will be Tuesday, January 25 at 5:30 PM in the Pittsburg Tank and Tower Event Suite at the library. Additional sessions will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 4:30 PM at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church and on Wednesday, February 23 at 8:30 AM at the library. An online survey will also be available from January 25-February 23 at hcpl.org.
