HENDERSON, Ky. - The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners approved a $10 million general obligation bond issue that will fund costs of major municipal water,
sanitary sewer and storm sewer system additions and improvements and related costs at its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 12.
Among the projects the bonding will address are an upgraded water intake system for the South Water Treatment Plant operated by the Henderson Water
Utility and HWU's plan for a new System Operations Center in Henderson Corporate Park.
The bond issue was approved by the Water-Sewer Commission at a previous meeting.
The commission also:
* Saw a demonstration by Information Technology Department summer intern Zach Harmon on a new city smartphone app that would include mobile opportunity
for bill-paying, notifications of road closures and other service disruptions, calendar and meeting information, city government news items and other
tools. The commission approved the app, and it will now be submitted to Apple and Google Play for approval.
* Approved a buy-sell agreement for a tract of land that will be used for an economic development project to be announced.
* Passed first reading of an ordinance that addresses Henderson Municipal Power & Light power supply costs that are not recovered by base rate charges.
* Approved a consent agenda that contained two sets of minutes, approval for purchasing a new street sweeper, approval of the 2023 Community Development
Block Grant Action Plan and approval of the city manager's salary.
The date for the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is July 26, 3 p.m. It will take place in the third-floor Assembly Room of the Henderson
Municipal Center.
