Fans can help choose the next Reds Hall of Famer by voting online at RedsMuseum.org
CINCINNATI (September 1, 2022) — The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum has announced the five former Reds players appearing on the 2023 Modern Player Ballot presented by Clark Schaefer Hackett, the official accounting firm of the Reds Hall of Fame Ballot.
The Modern Player candidates for 2023 are:
- Bronson Arroyo, P (2006 – 2013, 2017)
- Aaron Boone, 3B (1997 – 2003)
- Francisco Cordero, P (2008 – 2011)
- Aaron Harang, P (2003 – 2010)
- Scott Rolen, 3B (2009 – 2012)
Fans may cast ballots online at RedsMuseum.org through September 30. There is a limit of one vote per person/email address per day.
Only one Modern Player will be selected for induction as part of the Reds Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023. The votes from the fans will be combined with ballots from select members of the media and Reds alumni to determine the inductee.
The five players were nominated by the Hall of Fame’s Election Governance Committee.
“We look forward to honoring one of these five worthy candidates next year with induction ceremonies at Great American Ball Park and at the Induction Gala,” said Rick Walls, executive director of the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum. “Once again, the fans will have the opportunity to help determine the next inductee into the Hall of Fame.”
A player becomes eligible for Induction through the Modern Player Ballot when:
- They have appeared in at least three seasons with the Reds
- Five years have passed since the year of their final Major League season
- No more than 15 years have passed since the year of their final Major League season

In addition to the Modern Player Ballot, the Reds Hall of Fame Veterans Committee will consider candidates for induction whose playing careers ended more than 15 years ago along with managers and executives. Together, the Modern Player Ballot and Veterans Ballot results will comprise the Reds Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2023, to be announced later this year.
The 2023 Induction Weekend will take place next summer and is presented by PNC Bank.

Ranks 6th in franchise history in career strikeouts with 1,157; National League All-Star in 2006, won 14 games and led league in games started and innings pitched; in 2010 became the second pitcher in franchise history to win a Gold Glove; tied for 16th in franchise history with 108 victories; tied for 7th in franchise history in starts with 279; led Reds in innings pitched each season, 2008-2011; won 14 or more games five times during Reds career; member of Reds 2010 and 2012 Central Division Champion clubs.
Aaron Boone
1997 – 2003
National League All-Star in 2003; Reds Most Valuable Player in 2002; ranks in the top 50 in franchise history in slugging percentage (34th), home runs (35th), extra-base hits (44th), and on-base plus slugging percentage (47th); tied for NL lead in games played in 2002 (162); led Reds in stolen bases in 2002 (32) and 2003 (15); starting third baseman on 1999 Reds team that won 96 games; hit last home run in the history of Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field on 9/22/02.
Francisco Cordero
2008 – 2011
Ranks 2nd in franchise history with 150 career saves; led club in saves each season of his Reds career; 2009 NL All-Star; ranked in the top-10 in the NL in each of his four seasons with the Reds including a second-place finish with 39 saves in 2009; saved 40 games as the closer for the 2010 Central Division Champion Reds; on 6/1/11 became only the 22nd pitcher in MLB history with 300 career saves.
Aaron Harang
2003 – 2010
Ranks 7th in franchise history with 1,125 career strikeouts; led Reds in strikeouts each season from 2004-2007 and in victories each season from 2005-2007; in 2006, led NL in strikeouts, games started and complete games and tied for the league lead in victories; finished 4th in voting for NL Cy Young Award in 2007; 2-time winner of the Johnny Vander Meer Award as Reds Outstanding Pitcher; Reds Opening Day starting pitcher each season, 2006-2009; member of Reds 2010 Central Division Champions team.
Scott Rolen
2009–2012
Two-time National League All-Star (2010, 2011); only third baseman in Reds history to win a Gold Glove Award (2010); Joe Nuxhall Good Guy Award winner (2010); finished 14th in voting for the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award (2010); starting third baseman and leader of Reds 2010 Central Division Champion club and 2012 Central Division Championship team that won 97 games.
