Colonels Pick Up 4th Win of the Season on the Road against the Blue Tornado

The (3-1) Henderson County Colonels continued their season by taking on the (2-2) Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado on the road in Paducah at McRight Field.

 

The Colonels opened up the game on offense in which the Colonels would take 5:41 off the clock and score first on a 2 yard touchdown run by sophomore Trajdon Davis, as after the PAT the Colonels would go up 7-0 on the Blue Tornado with 6:19 left in the 1st quarter. Then in the 2nd quarter, the Blue Tornado would cap off their first scoring drive with a 30 yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Stone Crowe to sophomore wide receiver Joshua Campbell, as after the PAT the Blue Tornado would tie the game up at 7-7 with 9:28 to play in the first half. The Colonels would score with 5 seconds left to play in the first half as sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis threw a 22 yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Koien Banks, as after the missed PAT the Colonels would lead 13-7 going into the halftime break over the Blue Tornado.

 

The Colonels didn’t mess around as a little over 2 minutes into the 2nd half the Colonels would strike first with a 15 yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis, and after the PAT the Colonels would lead 20-7 with 9:37 to play in the 3rd quarter. Then the Colonels would cap off a 6 play, 22 yard drive with a 45 yard field goal from sophomore kicker Carson Weiss to give the Colonels a 23-7 lead heading into the 4th and final quarter. A little over a minute into the 4th quarter, the Blue Tornado would cap off a 11 play, 62 yard drive with a 7 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Jack James to junior receiver JoeAvion Starks, as the Blue Tornado would still trail the Colonels 23-13 with 10:49 to play in the game. The Colonels would score the final offensive score as they capped off a 4 play, 26 yard drive with a 7 yard touchdown run by senior running back Jordan Wright, as after the PAT the Colonels would extend their lead to 30-13 with 2:18 to play in the game. The Colonels would win by that 17 point margin and improve their record to (4-1) on the season while the Blue Tornado drop to (2-3).

 

Colonel sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis was 4 for 8 for 78 yards passing and threw 1 touchdown pass on the night. Sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis also had 21 carries for 89 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on the night while senior running back Jordan Wright had 17 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown run.

 

The Colonels as a team, had 201 yards rushing and 78 yards passing for a total of 279 yards of total offense as well as 15 first downs in the game. The Colonels defensively allowed the Blue Tornado to -17 rushing yards and 176 yards of total offense on the night. The Colonels defense allowed 10 first downs and forced 3 turnovers on the night. The Colonels had 7penalties for 59 yards while the Blue Tornado had 9 penalties for 65 yards. 

 

Special night for Colonel senior running back Jordan Wright as he joins the 2,000 career rushing club in Henderson County Football Program History.

 

 The Colonels will take on the Marshall County Marshals next Friday night, September 30th, at Colonel Stadium with the kickoff set for 7 P.M.
