The (0-1) Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the (0-1) Louisville Male Lady Bulldogs in Owensboro at the Sportscenter in the Independence Bank Tip-off Classic.

 

Head Coach of the Lady Colonels Jeff Haile was out with sickness. Interim Coach was assistant coach Danny Perkins.

 

In the first quarter, the Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Bulldogs 13-7 heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs would outscore the Lady Colonels 13-6, as the score at halftime was a 1 point lead for the Lady Bulldogs with the score 20-19.

 

To begin the second half, the Lady Bulldogs would outscore the Lady Colonels 16-13 in the third quarter, as heading into the fourth quarter the Lady Bulldogs would have a 36-32 lead over the Lady Colonels. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 26-20 with Shalyn Sprinkles scoring all of her 18 points in the quarter, as Sprinkles hit a 3 pointer in the final ten seconds to give to the Lady Colonels their first win of the season taking down the Lady Bulldogs with the final score 58-56. The Lady Colonels improve to (1-1) while the Lady Bulldogs fall to (0-2). 

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior guard Graci Risley with 21 points while knocking down 5 three pointers on the day. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles tallied 18 points while knocking down the game winning three and was 9 for 9 from the free throw line on the day. Senior forward Jarie Thomas had 8 points while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson scored 6 points. To round out the scoring, senior guard Savannah Lacer added 5 points on the day.

As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 13 for 15 from the free throw line while knocking down 7 three pointers and grabbing 35 total team rebounds and had 26 turnovers on the day.

 

The Lady Colonels will take on the Evansville Central Lady Bears on Thursday, December 8th, at 7:00 P.M. on the road in Evansville.
