The (0-1) Henderson County Colonels faced off against the (1-1) Evansville North Huskies on the road in Evansville last night.

 

In the first quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Huskies 16-8 heading into the second quarter.  In the second quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Huskies 9-4, as the score at halftime was a 13 point lead for the Colonels with the score 25-12.

 

To begin the second half, the Colonels would outscore the Huskies 12-8 in the third quarter, as heading into the fourth quarter the Colonels would have a 37-20 lead over the Huskies. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies would outscore the Colonels 20-16 but the Colonels would come away with a 13 point victory over the Huskies with the final score 53-40. The Colonels improve to (1-1) on the season while the Huskies drop to (1-2).

The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 24 points while shooting 5 for 9 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport tallied 10 points and was 4 for 4 from the free throw line while senior forward Jake Rideout scored 6 points and went 2 for 2 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Lacon McKinney added 5 points while sophomore center Elijah Suggs tallied 4 points. To round out the scoring, junior guard Alec Satterfield added 4 points on the night.

 

As a team, the Colonels shot 16 for 26 from the free throw line while knocking down only 1 three pointer on the night.

 

The Colonels will take on the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado at home at Colonel Gym in Henderson on Tuesday night, December 6th, with the tip-off at 7:30 P.M.
