The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Evansville Mater Dei Lady Wildcats on the road in Evansville.
In the first quarter, the Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Wildcats 12-11, heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Colonels hit 5 three pointers and outscored the Lady Wildcats 17-8, as the Lady Colonels held a 10 point lead over the Lady Wildcats at halftime with the score 29-19.
To begin the second half, the Lady Wildcats would have two players score 7 each in the third quarter, as the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Colonels 18-11, as heading into the fourth quarter the Lady Colonels would have a 40-37 lead over the Lady Wildcats. In the fourth and final quarter, the Lady Wildcats would again outscore the Lady Colonels 14-12, as in the final seconds of the game the Lady Wildcats would hit a shot to take a 51-49 and then senior guard for the Lady Colonels Mallorie Veal would hit a last second shot to give the Lady Colonels a 1 point win over the Lady Wildcats with the final score 52-51. The Lady Colonels improve to (4-1) on the season while the Lady Wildcats drop to (5-5).
The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior forward Jarie Thomas with 12 points while senior guard Graci Risley scored 11 points while shooting 3 for 5 from the three point line on the night. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles contributed 10 points while senior guard Mallorie Veal tallied 9 points while knocking down 3 three pointers and grabbing 4 rebounds. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, senior guard Savannah Lacer scored 5 points while shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line and grabbed 3 rebounds while sophomore forward Anna Kemp added 3 points on the night.
The Lady Wildcats had two players, Kate Wenger and Molly Schmitt, with 19 points each while the two alone combined for 13 for 15 from the free throw line.
As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 5 for 10 from the free throw line while shooting 9 for 18 from the three point line and grabbing 17 rebounds on the night.
The Lady Colonels will take on the Castle Lady Knights from Newburgh, Indiana tomorrow night, December 15th, at home with the tip-off at 7:00 P.M. at Colonel gym.
