The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Lincoln County Patriots on the road in Lexington at Lexington Christian Academy in the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic.
In the first quarter, the Patriots outscored the Colonels 15-13 heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Patriots outscored the Colonels 17-15, as at halftime was a 4 point lead for the Patriots with the score 32-28.
To begin the second half, the Patriots would outscore the Colonels 14-12, as the Patriots would hold a 6 point lead over the Colonels with the score 46-40, headed into the fourth and final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots outscored the Colonels 12-1, as the Colonels would only be able to score 1 point in the last 11 minutes of the game to suffer their fourth loss of the season with the final score 58-41. The Patriots improve to (5-2) on the season while the Colonels drop to (4-4).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while knocking down 2 three pointers on the day. Sophomore forward Lacon McKinney scored 11 points while sophomore guard Cooper Davenport contributed 6 points by knocking down 2 three pointers. Sophomore forward Trajdon Davis tallied 3 points and 3 rebounds while senior forward Jake Rideout added 2 points and 5 rebounds. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, junior guard Alec Satterfield scored 2 points on the day.
As a team, the Colonels shot 3 for 5 (60%) from the free throw line while shooting 4 for 17 (23%) from the three and grabbed 23 rebounds on the day. The Colonels also committed 11 turnovers and recorded 7 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals on the day.
The Colonels will take on the Scott County Cardinals tomorrow afternoon, December 21st, with tip-off at 2:00 P.M. ET / 1:00 P.M. CT at Lexington Chirstian Academy in Lexington in the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic.
