The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Calloway County Lakers last night in Lexington at Lexington Christian Academy in the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic for the 3rd and final game of the tournament.
In the first quarter, the Colonels outscored the Lakers 18-8 heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Colonels senior guard Gerard Thomas scored 13 points in the quarter, as the Colonels would outscore the Lakers 25-8, as at halftime was a 27 point lead for the Colonels with the score 43-16.
To begin the second half, the Colonels would outscore the Lakers 18-8, as the Colonels would hold a dominating 37 point lead over the Lakers with the score 61-24, headed into the fourth and final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers would outscore the Colonels 24-8, but it wasn’t enough as the Colonels would come away with a 21 point victory over the Lakers with the final score 69-48. The Colonels improve to (6-4) on the season while the Lakers drop to (7-3).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 23 points while junior guard Alec Satterfield scored 12 points on the night. Sophomore guard Lacon McKinney contributed 12 points while senior forward Jake Rideout tallied 8 points. Sophomore guards Cooper Davenport and Dwaine Moss both recorded 5 points each while both knocked a three pointer of their own. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, sophomore forward Trajdon Davis added 4 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels didn’t attempt a free throw on the night while knocking down 3 three pointers and grabbing 20 rebounds while committing 4 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Dawson Springs Panthers on Wednesday night, December 28th, at 6:00 P.M. at Colonel Gym in the Henderson Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Classic.
