The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Gibson Southern Lady Titans from Fort Branch, Indiana at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in the Paul Logan Memorial Basketball Invitational.
In the opening quarter, the Lady Titans outscored the Lady Colonels 19-16 as Lady Colonel senior forward Jarie Thomas and sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles combined for 11 points in the period heading into the second quarter. In that second quarter, the Lady Titans outscored the Lady Colonels 15-7, as the Lady Titans held a 11 point lead over the Lady Colonels at halftime with the score 34-23.
To begin the second half, Lady Colonels senior guard Savannah Lacer and senior forward Jarie Thomas combined for 8 points in the quarter, as the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Titans 16-10 in the third quarter, as the Lady Titans held a 44-39 lead over the Lady Colonels heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Titans 14-12, as Lady Colonel freshman forwards A’Tylia Green and Brooklyn Gibson combined for 10 points in the quarter, as senior forward Jarie Thomas missed a three pointer as the clock expired to force overtime as Lady Colonels suffer a three point loss to the Lady Titans with the final score 56-53. The Lady Colonels fall to (7-2) on the season while the Lady Titans improve to (8-3).
The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior forward Jarie Thomas with 13 points while senior guard Graci Risley scored 11 points while knocking down 2 three pointers on the day. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles contributed 8 points while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson tallied 7 points while shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line. Freshman forward A’Tylia Green recorded 6 points while knocking down 2 three pointers while senior guard Savannah Lacer scored 6 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, freshman guard Addy Gish added 2 points on the day.
As a team, the Lady Colonels knocked down 5 three pointers and shot 10 for 13 from the free throw line on the day.
The Lady Colonels take on the Hamilton Southeastern Lady Royals from Fishers, Indiana tomorrow morning, December 29th, at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana at 11:45 A.M. in the Paul Logan Memorial Basketball Invitational.
