The Henderson County Colonels took on the Hopkinsville Tigers on the road at Tiger Gym in Hopkinsville.
In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Tigers 16-10, as senior guard for the Colonels Gerard Thomas scored 7 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Tigers would outscore the Colonels 18-9, as the Tigers would hold a 3 point lead at halftime with the score 28-25.
To begin the second half, the Tigers would outscore the Colonels 16-15 in the third quarter, as the Tigers would hold a 4 point lead heading into the fourth quarter with the score 44-40. In the fourth and final quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Tigers 22-8, as the Colonels would come away with a 10 point win over the Tigers with the final score 62-52. The Colonels improve to (9-5) on the season while the Tigers fall to (5-8).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with another double-double with 17 points while grabbing 13 rebounds and recorded 3 blocks while shooting 6 for 9 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 15 points while shooting 9 for 11 from the free throw line while senior forward Jake Rideout contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds along with 2 blocks while shooting 4 for 4 from the free throw line on the night. Junior guard Alec Satterfield tallied 9 points while sophomore forward Trajdon Davis recorded 8 points and 8 rebounds. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, sophomore guard Dwaine Moss added 1 point on the night.
As a team, the Colonels knocked down 4 three pointers, shot 22 for 28 (78%) from the free throw line and recorded 35 total rebounds while committing 25 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Apollo Eagles on Friday night, January 6th, at home at Colonel Gym with the tip-off at 7:30 P.M. in the second game of the Lady Colonels/Colonels doubleheader.
