Toyota Supports Henderson Community College's Early College Academy

Toyota Indiana has awarded a grant to aid in funding of Henderson Community College’s Early College Academy (ECA).

HCC’s Early College Academy gives Henderson County High School students a chance to earn a degree as they graduate from high school at limited cost to their families. That degree goes directly to the workforce or transfers to a university.

The college said that students are challenged and successful in their learning and they further workforce and economic development in the community. With the support from Toyota Indiana, Henderson Community College said it can continue the program for current students and explore ways to expand the program.

In response to the gift given to HCC by Toyota Indiana,  HCC President Dr. Jason Warren said “Thanks to Toyota’s generous investment, Early College Academy is now firmly established into the fabric of HCC offerings. Each year, a new ECA cohort of local high school students have the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma and college associate degree at the same time.”

Warren also notes how involved ECA students are in campus life and how the program fosters leadership development. This year, a number of ECA students hold officer positions in HCC’s Student Government Association (SGA). An ECA student serves as the campus SGA president and even had the opportunity to address the graduates at the College’s December Commencement ceremony.

As a result of this grant, HCC is looking forward to serving more Henderson County High School Students, providing them with the education and skills they need to enter the workforce.
