The Henderson County Colonels took on the Apollo Eagles at home at Colonel Gym.
In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Eagles 13-6 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, senior guard Gerard Thomas and sophomore forward Trajdon Davis combined for 12 points as the Colonels would outscore the Eagles 22-12, as the Colonels would hold a 17 point lead at halftime with the score 35-18.
To begin the second half, the Eagles would outscore the Colonels 13-12 in the third quarter, as the Colonels would hold a 16 point lead heading into the fourth quarter with the score 47-31. In the fourth and final quarter, the Eagles would outscore the Colonels 10-8, but the Colonels would come away with a 14 point win over the Eagles with the final score 55-41. The Colonels improve to (10-5) on the season while the Eagles fall to (1-11).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks while shooting 7 for 9 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore forward Trajdon Davis had 11 points and 6 rebounds while senior forward Jake Rideout contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport tallied 7 points while junior guard Alec Satterfield recorded 6 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sophomore forward Elijah Suggs added 3 points while sophomore Dwaine Moss tallied 2 points and 3 steals. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, junior guard Nick Belle added 2 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels shot 2 for 16 (12%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 21 (52%) from the free throw line. The Colonels also grabbed 33 total rebounds and recorded 12 assists, 10 steals, 2 blocks, and committed 11 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Christian County Colonels on the road in Hopkinsville on Tuesday night, January 10th, at 7:30 P.M.
